Loreto
Loreto - just 5 min walk from Golden Horse House.
Ever since its construction in 1626, the Loreto has been an important place of pilgrimage. It was commissioned by Kateřina of Lobkowicz, a Czech aristocrat who was very keen to promote the legend of the Santa Casa of Loreto. (The legend of the Santa Casa says, that the original house, where the Archagel Gabriel told Mary about the future birth of Jesus, is in the small Italian town of Loreto. It was believed that angels transported the house from Nazareth to Loreto in 1278, following threats by infidels.)
The hearth of the complex of Loreto in Prague is a copy of the house believed to be the Virgin Mary´s. The grandiose design and miraculous stories about the Loreto were part of Ferdinand IIs campaign to recatholize the Czechs.
